| Dear Fellow BSBCCA Members,
The following summary of the
April 2, 2008 Board Meeting was approved at the
Board meeting of May
5, 2008
- Handicap parking was
discussed. It appears that we already have more handicap spaces than the
law requires. Additionally, staff reports that they very seldom see all of
the handicap spaces in use, therefore it was the consensus of the Board
not to increase the number of handicap parking spaces. In the event that a
vehicle is found parked in a handicap space without proper authorization,
then the staff will call Narragansett Police to ticket and/or tow the
vehicle.
- This year, any vehicle
entering the parking lot without a BSBC sticker on the front window will
be issued a 1 day parking permit which must be displayed at all times. The
parking permit will contain vehicle registration information and the Unit
Number issuing the Guest Passes to the vehicle’s occupants. Different
colors will be used throughout the season.
- A new rule for the coming
season was discussed and passed. On weekends and holidays, members must be
present at the Beach Club before their guests will be admitted. Gate staff
will be instructed that whenever a guest presents at the gate on weekend
or holiday, they must have previously verified that the inviting member is
already on the premises. If the member is not on the premises, then the
guests will not be admitted. Members will be urged to arrive at the Club
prior to the arrival of their guests and leave Guest Passes at the gate
when they arrive. This will be the easiest and most efficient way to
verify their presence when guests arrive.
- The dates on which Guest
Passes will cost $18.00 this coming season were set as follows: July 4, 5,
6, 13, 20, and 27.
- A replacement window has
finally been found for the outside windows on the double bathhouses. The
replacement window will fit in the existing opening without the need for
any additional construction. Its appearance from the outside will be in
conformity with the look of other replacement windows. The staff was
instructed to update the entire list of replacement windows available
including updating the price since all of the windows has increased in
price since the last update. It appears through the cooperation of our
members that we now have replaced more than half of the windows at the
Beach Club.
- Cliff reported on his progress
in securing new members and handles for the doors. The consensus of the
Board was to go with Cliff’s recommendation of using black at this seemed
the most cost effective.
- It appears that the lists
maintained by Michelle in the office of owners that have passes available
have somehow morphed into a much larger and more complicated brokerage for
passes and Units. The Board was informed that the staff in the office
spends hours dealing with the list which now includes a list of Units for
sale and a list of people who are looking to buy Units, a list of passes
for sale and a list of people to buy passes, and a list of Units for rent
and a list of people who are trying to rent Units. It was never the
intention for the Board that providing this service to the members would
become so complicated and time consuming. After some discussion, the Board
instructed Michelle that she needed to bring the system back to its
original intended purpose. That purpose is to provide an easy way for
members who are in need of additional passes to purchase them from other
members who have passes to sell. In the future, Michelle was told that she
should only accept listing for passes. She should no longer make lists of
people who either are looking for Units to rent or people who have Units
to rent and also refuse listings for sales of Units.
