BONNET SHORES BEACH CLUB | Dear Fellow BSBCCA Members, The following summary of the
June 10,
2008 Board Meeting was approved at the
Board meeting of June
24, 2008 1.
Jerry Zito invited Richard Valente from the Telstar Fire Works to
discuss with the Board his plans for the fire works should we decide to
proceed. He gave a full report detailing the cost, location on the beach and
the types of fire works that would be used. All of these things were
discussed with the Fire Marshall at a meeting which took place prior to this
Board Meeting. 2.
Ron Cruff appeared and
conducted a thorough review of our insurance program for this season. He
went through each of our various policies one at the time and discussed the
limits of our coverage and answered any questions posed by Board Members. In
terms of the main category of property insurance, he told us that we have
coverage in the amount of $9,923,000.00 covering building and contents on an
all –risk replacement cost basis with various deductibles depending on the
type of loss. The total cost for all insurance coverage this year was
$141,866.00 which is slightly less than last year’s premium with some
improvements in coverage. 3.
The Board engaged in a lengthy discussion concerning the possibility
of bringing the fire works back this year. Some Board members spoke very
much in favor of bringing back fire works because it was something that was
enjoyed by many members. Other Board Members were opposed because of the
crowds that fire works generally draw and the strain it creates on our
infrastructure. The Board ultimately decided to proceed with the fire works
tentatively scheduled for the night of July 3rd with the
understanding that the number of guests would be limited to 500 at a price
of $18.00 per guest and that parking would be restricted to members only.
There are still a couple of issues concerning the financing and permitting
that need to be worked out and we are waiting for Ron Cruff to report to ys
in the availability of insurance. If any of these things cannot be put in
place, then the tentative approval by the Board would be withdrawn. 4.
The Board reviewed the new restaurant menu. Overall, everyone was
happy with the new menu. The Board was told that the new restaurant manage
priced everything in accordance with our instructions to keep everything as
reasonable as possible and to price things more aggressively than would
normally be the case in the private sector. The consensus of the Board was
to go with the menu as presented and monitor members’ reactions the first
few weekends the restaurant is open. 5.
The first movie night will be Friday, July 11th with
Pirates of The Carribbean 3, and the second one will be Friday, August 15th
with the Finding Nemo. This year’s sand sculpture contest will take place
on Sunday morning, August 17th. 6.
Election of Officers for the coming year was conducted. All of the
currently sitting Officers were re-elected for another year. 7.
A Board Member wished to discuss the use of the Club by the Tennis
Pro, Glen Gamma. Apparently, he has for many years used the Club when he was
not giving tennis lessons although he is not a member. After discussion, it
was decided to ask him not to use the Club facilities unless he secures a
Membership Pass.
